Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 box (13.25 oz) vanilla cake mix
  • ⅓ cup neutral oil (vegetable, canola, or avocado)
  • 1 cup milk or water
  • 4 large eggs
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • 12 oz candy melts
  • White nonpareils or sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 325°F (162°C). Prepare a baking pan.
  2. In a large bowl, combine cake mix, oil, milk, and eggs until smooth. Pour batter into the pan and bake according to package instructions until a toothpick comes out clean.
  3. Once cooled, crumble the cake into fine pieces in a large bowl.
  4. In another bowl, mix softened butter, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and salt until smooth. Combine this with crumbled cake until fully mixed.
  5. Roll the mixture into balls (about 1¼ inches) and chill in the freezer for 15 minutes.
  6. Melt candy melts in the microwave until smooth. Dip lollipop sticks into melted candy before inserting them halfway into each cake ball.
  7. Chill again for 15 minutes. Then coat each pop in melted candy melts and decorate with sprinkles before placing them upright to set.
