  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 (28 oz) can crushed tomatoes
  • 2 (6 oz) cans tomato paste
  • 1 (15 oz) can tomato sauce
  • 12 lasagna noodles
  • 16 oz ricotta cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 3/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large skillet, cook ground beef, onion, and garlic over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat.
  3. Add crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, tomato sauce, water, sugar, herbs, and seasonings to the skillet. Simmer for about 30 minutes.
  4. Cook lasagna noodles according to package directions; drain.
  5. In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta cheese with egg and salt until smooth.
  6. In a greased baking dish, layer meat sauce, noodles, ricotta mixture, mozzarella, and Parmesan cheese twice.
  7. Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes; uncover and bake for an additional 25 minutes until bubbly.
  8. Let stand for 15 minutes before serving.
